[GeoJSON] users list needs help.

Nice! I think this is a good way to go with the site.

So, who owns geojson.org<http://geojson.org> these days?

More links!

Here's the spec rendered from Markdown:
http://geojsonwg.github.io/geojson-spec.html

This is set up so all old links should still work if we point geojson.org<http://geojson.org/> here.

Are others in favor of going this direction (whole site as Organization Pages on GitHub, comments about style notwithstanding)?

Here's the repo for static content: https://github.com/GeoJSONWG/geojsonwg.github.io

This is currently rendered at http://geojsonwg.github.io/.

If we want that at http://geojson.org/ (that's my vote), the owner of the domain should add an A Record pointing to 204.232.175.78 and we can add a CNAME file to the repo (more here: https://help.github.com/articles/setting-up-a-custom-domain-with-pages).

I'm happy to move the spec to that repo. We can also add a users page with content drawn from the old wiki.

The master branch of the geojsonwg.github.io<http://geojsonwg.github.io/> repo would then contain everything we want to have at http://geojson.org/. Any other repos under the same org with a gh-pages branch will get rendered under a path like the repo name (e.g. http://geojsonwg.github.io/draft-geojson/draft.html).

If we want to have the spec in a different repo, we could have a build step for putting the content in the geojsonwg.github.io<http://geojsonwg.github.io/> repository. My preference would just be to reformat it as markdown, name it geojson-spec.md<http://geojson-spec.md/>, and put it in the geojsonwg.github.io<http://geojsonwg.github.io/> repo. That way we'd get the spec at the current URL (http://geojson.org/geojson-spec.html) if we point the A Record to GitHub.

We've already got https://github.com/GeoJSONWG/geojson-spec. That should work, yes?

If y'all get the correct GitHub repo worked out, then I'd be happy to move the mediawiki pages.

Github sounds grand. There is the annoying aspect that despite the Wiki being Git based itself - it can't handle Pull Requests. Still, it's better than MediaWiki and now is a good time to ride the wave!

I'm happy to help. A simple Jekyll based site should work.

Does anybody know Jason Roebuck (http://www.roebuckgis.com/)? I was wondering if we could persuade him to let us use the geojson organization on GitHub.

Andrew,

Good idea. But.

I had to lock down the MediaWiki installation because of spam users, and so that page/list has ended up being “please add my project”, which I’ve been happy to do (because so few people have asked).

Ideally I’d like to trash the wiki altogether, perhaps in favour of Github Pages, or similar. (A wiki seems quite quaint these days.) There isn’t so much there moving it across would be *that* much of a chore.

Volunteers? (I’m happy to be one.)

Hey Everyone - superb work on the GeoJSON successes!

I have a small, but likely valuable request. Can we gather & build out the active Users on the list page? http://wiki.geojson.org/Users

Things have come a long way from a few small open-source projects to what is now the community 'defacto' JSON geometry format. From libraries such as OpenLayers, Leaflet, ModestMaps, to Twitter, Github, Google, - I doubt that I alone could capture them all.
